Stronger Together: Performing Arts Preparedness
Preparedness is key to resilience, and NCAPER is committed to sharing resources that empower performing arts organizations. That’s why we’re highlighting free webinars from our partnering organization, the Performing Arts Readiness (PAR) project, which cover topics like fire safety, risk assessment, and community recovery. These expert-led sessions offer practical strategies to help arts organizations plan, respond, and recover from emergencies.

FEMA & NEA Highlight the Power of Arts in Disaster Resilience
Artists and cultural organizations are crucial in helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. FEMA recently spotlighted this vital connection with an informative fact sheet showcasing how the arts contribute to emergency preparedness and recovery efforts.

Additionally, the NEA’s #HealingBridgingThriving summit took a deep dive into how the arts foster healing and connection in the face of challenges. If you missed it, you can still catch the full replay on NEA’s YouTube channel.

2025 Emergency Management Higher Education Colloquium
NCAPER is excited to share the upcoming 2025 Emergency Management Higher Education Colloquium, hosted virtually by Arkansas Tech University on June 3-4, 2025. This event brings educators, researchers, and academic leaders together to advance emergency management and homeland security education. If you’re interested in how academic institutions are shaping the future of emergency preparedness, this is a must-attend event!

Responding to Recent Executive Orders
Recent Executive Orders (EOs) have introduced new policies that impact the arts sector, including changes within the National Endowment for the Arts’ grant programs and guidelines. To help arts organizations navigate these updates, Brett Egan (DeVos Institute of Arts Management, University of Maryland) and Emily Sexton (Sexton Law PLLC) led a 90-minute webinar packed with expert guidance on responding to these shifts.
Strengthening the Bay Area Arts Community with BAARN
The Bay Area Artist Resilience Network (BAARN), a new project launched in early 2025, will combine two important forces to build Bay Area artists’ Resiliency, Readiness, and Networking. BAARN will engage artists in all disciplines throughout a ten-county region to provide preparedness training, networking, and funding.
At NCAPER, we believe that stronger preparedness builds stronger arts communities. Let’s continue to learn, grow, and ensure the arts thrive—no matter what challenges arise!
