LOCAL ARTS AGENCIES AND NETWORKS
Join a BAARN Listening Session and help shape arts preparedness across California's Bay Area.
The Bay Area is vulnerable to both natural and human-caused disasters. Artists and arts organizations may also face smaller emergencies that can significantly disrupt their operations, facilities, and creative work.
These sessions are an opportunity for us to hear about the emergencies you have experienced, the risks that concern you most, and the resources and training that would help you become better prepared for crises of any type or size.

What to Expect: You’ll receive a discussion guide in advance; 75-minute in-person sessions facilitated by the team: Tom Clareson, Project Director, BAARN, Mollie Quinlan-Hayes, Executive Director, NCAPER, and Laura Poppiti, Interim Local Coordinator, BAARN; Co-hosted and informed by BAARN Local Advisory Committee, ensuring this process is community-rooted.
Why It Matters: What you share will directly inform the development of this region-wide program, and shape resources that respond to your needs. Listening sessions are a crucial step in building stronger networks and coordinated support for the arts sector before, during and after times of crisis.
Accommodations & Accessibility: Each venue is on ground level and has air ventilation. BAARN will provide masks and hand sanitizer. If you have specific access needs, please indicate them during registration or contact us in advance so we can do our best to accommodate you.

The Basics track gives you a foundation in readiness, protection strategies and insurance, business continuity, and crisis communications. The Enhanced track provides specialty curriculum including festival safety, safety and security while on tour, active shooter and hostile activity preparedness.

Share your emergency readiness and disaster management concerns and questions, to
help shape the BAARN project. If you are an artist or creative worker in the Bay Area, the Bay Area Arts Readiness Network (BAARN) invites you to take part in the Bay Area Arts Disaster Readiness Survey—a region-wide effort to understand how artists and arts organizations across
the ten-county Bay Area prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
This short online survey (about 12–15 minutes) gathers insights on your emergency
preparedness practices, challenges, and resource needs. Your input will directly shape
upcoming workshops, webinars, grant programs, and tools designed to help the arts
community protect assets, sustain operations, and strengthen long-term resilience.
